The Yakima Health District is investigating a Salmonella outbreak linked to food served at a Fourth of July car show in Wapato, Washington. Ten confirmed and suspected cases have been reported among attendees of the event hosted by Imperial's Garden. The farm stand operations of Imperial's Garden are not involved in the outbreak.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection, such as severe diarrhea, fever, and abdominal discomfort, typically appear 6 hours to 5 days after exposure. Those affected likely developed symptoms between July 5 and July 9. Individuals may continue to shed the bacteria even after symptoms resolve, which can lead to further spread.

The outbreak was detected after reports of illness from event attendees. Imperial's Garden is working with the Yakima Health District to identify the source of contamination. The investigation is ongoing.
