Update September 8th, 2026:Public Health has completed its investigation into the gastrointestinal illness outbreak associated with Outsider BBQ & Beer Garden’s pop-up at Ravenna Brewing Company.
During the July 12 inspection, officials found that the pop-up lacked an available handwashing station for employees and that some foods were being held in the temperature “danger zone” between 41°F and 135°F.
A July 16 inspection of the Outsider BBQ & Beer Garden restaurant found inadequate refrigeration capacity to safely service the restaurant, food truck, and pop-up, as well as foods being held in the temperature danger zone.
At a follow-up inspection on August 5, Public Health found repeat violations, including improper cooling practices. However, most of the previously identified food safety problems had been corrected. Public Health will continue working with the business to ensure proper food safety practices are followed.
The investigation is now complete. No laboratory testing was available because illnesses associated with bacterial toxins often resolve before testing can be performed.

July 29th, 2026:
Public Health officials are investigating a gastrointestinal illness outbreak linked to Outsider BBQ & Beer Garden’s pop-up stand at Ravenna Brewing Company in Seattle. Three people became ill after eating there on June 28, 2026.
Those affected reported symptoms including diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, and chills. The illnesses are suspected to be caused by bacterial toxins from improper food storage at room temperature. No specific food or drink has been identified as the source, and no staff members have reported illness.
The outbreak was identified after reports from those who became ill. Officials conducted interviews and inspections, resulting in the pop-up’s closure on July 12, 2026, due to permit and food safety violations. Further inspections at the main restaurant found issues with refrigeration and food storage temperatures. The restaurant has been advised on corrective actions, and follow-up inspections are planned. No laboratory testing was done, as symptoms usually resolve before testing.
